Jan Szczepkowski

Jan Szczepkowski

He was born in 1975 in Sanok. He deals with painting and drawing, pedagogical work and conservation of monuments. In the years 1998-2003 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts named after Jan Matejko in Krakow, at the Faculty of Painting – painting workshops of prof. Jacek Waltoś (diploma) and prof. Grzegorz Bednarski, drawing studio of prof. Janusz Orbitowski, the woodcut workshop of prof. Zbigniew Lutomski.
Jan Szczepkowski’s painting is slightly theatrical, we are like observers of the performance, as he says himself, he is inspired by death and love. He sees Sanok as a lampshade under which the action of these two themes takes place. The colors and the method of painting give the effect of a silicone world. Very interesting, sophisticated style.
